MeasureNet Announces Next Generation Network Controller

August 3, 2008

MeasureNet has announced a significant hardware upgrade for the unit supplying processing and memory functionality to its networks. The new “Unity” Network Controller will support multiple and simultaneous acquisitions by research instruments requiring higher data collection rates and lengthier acquisition times. Network menus and print requests will be processed at significantly faster speeds.
A noticeable difference will be the absence of the removable PCMCIA card containing probeware and network software. Unity will instead download network software upgrades over the Internet and provide options for remote diagnostics and troubleshooting. Certain Unity versions will also will facilitate increased network capacity beyond the current limit of 12 workstations per network.

According to MeasureNet President Robert Voorhees, the new controller will “improve network LIMS capabilities for existing and planned instruments. With more laboratories employing MeasureNet beyond General Chemistry, Unity gives us the capability to satisfy the needs of advanced users.” The controller will work with all past and current workstation models. Shipments are planned for January, 2009.
